Essential Oils That Help Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite is a collection of fat, water, and waste that is trapped beneath the skin. Fat cells occur naturally in our bodies, but waste is from substances we breath, eat, and drink. When we consume materials that our body cannot dispose of because it is foreign to our waste removal system, our body stores it in our fat cells, causing them to become hard and create a dimpled texture.

Foreign waste can come from things like fake cheeses, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, gluten, enriched pasta products, food coloring, carcinogens, and partially hydrogenated oils, among others.

While there are synthetic creams, lasers, and electronic devises, there are also natural ways to reduce cellulite once it has developed. Certain essential oils, mixed with a carrier oil, when massaged on skin can, in time, reduce and remove cellulite. This is an everyday treatment.

What Are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are highly concentrated plant oils removed from their plant sources through steam distillation or by a cold press method. To be used, they must be mixed with a carrier oil, such as hazelnut, walnut, avocado, jojoba, sweet almond, or coconut oil. Essential oils can last from one to four years in this form, depending upon how they are stored. Carrier oils, on the other hand, can only last between six months to a few years, depending on how they are stored.

Pour oils of your choice into a glass bottle with a cap. Mix by shaking and store in a cool dark place. Refrigeration is alright, but some carrier oils solidify below 70 degrees. Before using, shake thoroughly.

To apply the oil, take a warm bath or shower and finish with a cold rinse. Using a sisal brush start at your feet and gently brush cellulite until your skin is slightly red. Starting from your feet, vigorously massage in the preferred oil until completely absorbed.

Repeat daily if possible. These mixtures can be stored for up to six months.

The Role of Exercise

Exercise can also help reduce and remove cellulite when combined with the massage oils. A few specific exercises to try are:

  • Weight training
  • Yoga
  • Bike riding
  • Skating
  • Walking
  • Swimming
  • Climbing

Always drink lots of water. This helps clear the body of toxins by flushing the body and preventing toxins from building up in the fat cells. Water flushes waste from the blood and reduces constipation throughout the body as a whole.
