What Is Mindful Living?

Mindful living is:

  • Observing our life as it happens (living in the present).
  • Accepting our situation without judgment or anxiety.
  • Acknowledging our thoughts and working to improve on the negative ones.
  • Allowing our feelings to happen without letting them control us.
  • Taking action based on our heart, not on past experiences.

Happiness Leads to Mindful Living

I love the Idea of doing things that make us happy. I think a lot of grownups forget to do things that make them happy.

Learning To Be Mindful

Most people say it isn't easy to be mindful. It takes time to learn a new habit—you can do it. Just bear with me and give it a chance. No matter what your life is like or the situation you are in, at this moment in life. You can learn how to be mindful of how you live and the effect it has on your life, from now on.

One thing I know for sure is whether it takes a day, a week, a month, or a year, you can do it. The time is going to go by anyway—why not do your best to have the most positive, happy and well-lived life you can? My mother once said: It's not what's happening in your life that matters, but how how you choose to react to it that makes the difference.

Sometimes life can seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be that way. Let go of items in your home and life that no longer serve your new purpose. By changing how you think and the thoughts you allow to grow, you can change and have a mindful life. When you change your life, you see others differently. The changes they see in you could help them to have a more mindful life. Growing in a positive direction is good for the mind, body and spirit. One way to see things differently is to write them down, it helps to clear the mind before going to sleep. Soon you will see everything in a different light. It could be as simple as finding your center in a quiet room. Tea at night is also a good way to bring yourself back to being mindful. I use a cup with no handle. Make a calming or sleepy time tea. Wrap your hands around the cup. Hold close and breathe in before you drink it. Let it warm you from inside out. I find the warmth takes over and relaxes my mind. It's a beautiful ending to the day.

From my house to yours: A mindful life is a happy life. When you give thanks and show gratitude, everything will change. May living mindfully bring you everything you need to be healthy, happy and living in peace. Remember to show yourself the same love you give to others. When you find a new way of thinking, everything else will follow.
