Harmony and Balance

Open Minds and Open Hearts

How many times have you been criticized for your personal beliefs? If this has happened to you, chances are that the critical person does not have an open mind and open heart. Openness of mind and heart are necessary to achieve harmony and balance in one's life.

I once had a friend who called my beliefs "foolishness." At the time it hurt my feelings, not because she criticized my beliefs—for I am strong and hold fast to my highest truths—but it was a betrayal of what I thought was a good and lasting friendship. I quickly got over it when I realized that what she said stemmed from her lack of faith in her own belief system.

When people have true faith in themselves, as well as their religion and/or belief system, they do not feel the need to criticize others. If they do criticize others, then it is time for them to look within their hearts and souls to find harmony and balance. It is time for them to think about their own insecurities and limitations—and then find a way to heal. They can go within, into the silence of their soul and ask themselves, "What is it I need in my life? Why do I judge others and not look at my own life to see what I am missing?"

Nature

Nature is where you will find perfect harmony and balance.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

- Albert Einstein

Finding Harmony and Balance

Begin with love. Love is the core of life, the foundation of happiness and peace. Learn to love yourself - this is so important. Embrace who you are, all your skills and abilities, the way you treat other people, animals and nature. Be kind to yourself, accept your mistakes and failings as lessons learned so you can go forward in life. when you love yourself it is easier to find love for others.

If you like being outside, study nature where you will find harmony. Look at a flower and observe its effect on other flowers of the same species around it, what it does for bees, other insects and hummingbirds. The flower has a scent which draws a bee to the pollen. The bee picks up the pollen and spreads it to other flowers which promotes growth. The bees pollinate crops which benefits humanity and they make honey which also benefits us. It is our moral duty to protect the honeybees in this circle of life. That is harmony.

What about balance? Do we need balance in our life? Most definitely we do. Looking at love again, when we learn to love ourselves, nature and all things the Creator gave us, then we find love easily comes back to us without seeking and that is balance. Having balance in life does not mean we should give each task or interest the same amount of time every day.

Balance happens when everything that makes an individual who they are comes together in a pleasing flow. If, for example, one's social life is in contrast to and conflicts with one's religion or beliefs, then balance has not been achieved. Just as we need a good balanced diet for the physical body, we need good balance for the spiritual well being. When all parts of one's life are in balance with the physical, the spiritual, and the world around one, it creates harmony.

Does everything have to be in perfect harmony and balance? No - that would be rather boring. We need differences, even conflicts, to challenge us. Such challenges can help us confirm our own beliefs and thoughts or may open our minds further to learn new things which may enhance our life. It is a matter of perspective. How we perceive a new idea will either bring value to us or let us know if we do not need it. That is the beauty of an open mind.

Balance within our own self is of great value. We all have masculine and feminine energies. This determines, in large part, how we perceive just about everything. When we learn how to balance these two energies it can make us more whole.

Masculine and Femine Energies

In Chinese philosophy and culture the Yin and Yang principle is a fundamental concept. The meaning of Yin-Yang is that everything exists as inseparable and contradictory opposites, such as male-female, light-dark, hot-cold, etc. This can be applied to all cultures or relationships.

Masculine energy is forceful and physical, whereas feminine energy is yielding and receiving. To be more adaptable it is beneficial to find the balance within ourselves and to know when to use masculine or feminine energies, which provide us with more options. It makes for a better flow of energies and allows for more synergy in life.

Conclusion

When you have an open mind and an open heart, it is possible to find harmony and balance in your life and within yourself. It is easier to live in peace within your family, your relationships, and your culture. Go within your own silence and listen to the voice of your soul. Find your highest truths and peace.

I too have a friend who says hurtful things such as yours did.

I think it is necessary to embrace a positive energy force, and not get hung up on trivial and negative subjects.

Slowing everything down and watching nature as you say, can provide healing. I think it is even more important now, as technology has become ever present in our lives.

Beautifully written and a positive message.

To have an open mind is the key to happiness. We do not all have the same belief system, but that's what makes us unique. Wouldn't it be a dull world if we all were the same? This was a positive read, one that I enjoyed reading. Thank you for sharing....

Hi Ruby. You are so right - it would be dull indeed if we were all the same. Thanks for reading and commenting. Hope all is well with you.
